Sidewalk Riding Restricted for E-Vehicles
Sidewalk-riding will be prohibited on streets where a protected lane is available. A protected lane is an on-street lane where people riding bicycles, scooters, e-scooters, e-bikes and motorized skateboards are separated from drivers with a parking lane or other physical barrier.
New signage will be installed in areas that have protected lanes indicating that e-scooters, e-bikes and motorized skateboards must use it instead of the sidewalk.
At present there are only 6 areas in Arlington with protected lanes. There are no protected lanes in Lyon Village or Clarendon.

Arlington’s new ordinance allows the County Manager to further restrict sidewalk-riding access in the interest of public safety and welfare, even where a protected bike lane is not available
