When: Sat, Mar 13 from 1-3PM
Where: Hancock St between Key & Highland
On Saturday, March 13 from 1-3PM we are celebrating Mom’s 100th birthday by asking friends, community members, music students and musicians and family to drive down N Hancock St and honk their horns to wish her a happy 100th birthday. Depending on the weather, we will either be sitting in the front yard with Mom or at the front door to see those who drive by the house.
Francine has four daughters, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grand children.
Francine has lived at N Hancock Street in Arlington Virginia since she was 16 years old. She attended and graduated from Washington-Lee High school.
Francine taught music in her home studio on Hancock street until she was 90 years old. She taught piano, guitar, and accordion to many, many students over the past years.
She performed with the Tacoma Mandoleers, the mandolin music group founded and conducted by her husband , mandolinist Herman von Bernewitz.
Throughout the years the Tacoma Mandoleers played each year at the Smithsonian during the Christmas season. The Voice of American even did some interviews/recordings with Herman and Francine.
