The County Will Take Your Tree And Turn It Into Mulch
Special tree collection for residential customers: Jan 4–15. After Jan 15 trees are picked up as part of regular year-round yard waste collection.
● Place trees at the curb before 6AM on trash day (Wed in LV)
● Tree only: remove decorations, nails, stands, etc.
● Do not place trees in plastic bags
● Cut trees over 8-feet tall into smaller pieces
Residents Without Curbside Pickup May Drop Off Trees
Those living in townhomes, apartments and condominiums can bring trees to the Solid Waste Bureau’s Earth Products Yard in Shirlington. Call 703-228-5000 Mon–Fri 7AM–7PM to schedule an appointment. Proof of Arlington residence required.
Some Other Holiday Waste is Recyclable
● Most boxes, wrapping paper & gift bags can be recycled
● Can not recycle items with any glitter or metallic coating
● Can not recycle tissue paper, bubble wrap, lights, ornaments, etc.

12 Days of Active Winter Break
12 Days of Active Winter Break
County staff and residents will be offering 12 different, kid-friendly activities for 12 Days of Active Winter Break to keep students and their families active and entertained. Activities will be free, physically distant, accessible, and walk/bike friendly.
The 12 Days will start with a kick-off event held on Zoom on Thur, Dec 17, from 6:30-7:30 PM. Register in Advance
Daily activities will be posted on social media.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Santa Claus will be parading through Lyon Village on Sunday, December 13th at 3PM! He’ll be escorted by the fire and police departments. Be sure to bring your lists, a volunteer will be collecting them for Santa in a special basket along the route. Other helpers will be handing out candy canes to all the good boys and girls.
Remember to wear a mask and social distance on the sidewalks!

Egg Hunt Social Distancing Version
1) Decorate some paper eggs on an 8.5×11 paper sheet. You can download a template to print and color at Simple Mom Project
2) Post your eggs in a front window where they can easily be seen from the street. Please display them from Sat, Mar 28 to Tues, Apr 14.
3) Go for a walk around the neighborhood with your kids to see how many eggs you can find! Please walk only with members of your household, not in large groups.

The Lyon Village Egg Hunt which was to be held on Sat, Mar 28 in LV Park has been postponed. Hopefully it can be held later in the Spring. Watch LyonVillage.org and LyonVillageWomensClub.com for news.
